THE MISSION BEGINS

- THE JOURNEY TO THE STARTING LINE -

"In patience possess ye your souls" (Luke 21:19)

November 2019, Two years ago, we took this picture for our mission application papers.  We both had anticipated going on missions and were excited to make ourselves available to serve the Lord how, where, or when He needs.  This picture was taken in Dallas, Texas where we were staying while I was working there.

It took a few months to get everything together and by the end of February 2020 we were ready to submit our papers.  We only had to complete our vaccinations and get Sherri''s new passport.  All of that was completed by the middle of March 2020...

...Then Covid happened.  The passport was delayed indefinitely and we weren't sure when we would be able to submit our papers.

November 2020 - One year later - One year ago - the papers finally were submitted to the church.  On Christmas Eve 2020 we received our call.  We thought it had been such a long time, more than a year, to finally get our call.  And Wow! How exciting that we were going to go to Japan on April 25th!!

...Then Covid (and the Olympics) happened in Japan and they closed their borders to foreigners in March 2021.   A year after waiting for the passport we were now waiting for visas.

November 2021, here we are, still waiting for the visas, but temporarily reassigned to Guam to begin our service there while waiting for the visas.  We enter the Missionary Training Center November 15th and travel to our assignment in Guam on November 26th.

We were set apart as missionaries by the Stake President, Lew Cramer, yesterday, and entered the MTC this morning.

We will begin posting on this blog and sharing these posts in a Facebook Group for those who want to stay in touch with what we are doing.  We hope to be able to stay in touch with all of our family and friends as much as possible.

WE ARE VERY EXCITED THAT THE MISSION IS STARTING!!!
