MAY 22 - EXCITING!! - episode 8
It is official!
The First Presidency announced May 22nd as the date for the dedication of the Yigo Guam Temple. It will be the smallest temple in the church, but oh what a blessing it will be for the people of Guam and Micronesia!!
President and Sister Lopez will be the President and Matron of the temple. Small world note: They are coming from the 17th Ward in Salt Lake, which is the ward our Zions Summit condo is in.
We finally got a picture of us in front of the temple a couple of weeks ago. We are so excited! The amount of work that the temple start up team is doing is incredible. Everything will need to be ready to go by May 4th when the Open House begins. Rod and Lori Boss are on the Open House Committee so I am sure it will end up being spectacular.
As I reflect on the history of temples since 1830, I see periods of excitement, soul stretching sacrifice, intense opposition, set backs, and miracles. Every prophet in this dispensation has made the building of temples among their highest priorities, because it is that important to our Heavenly Father.
Our loving father has no higher priority than to have His children return home to His presence. He has established a set of simple covenants that effectuate the atonement and ensure our return, as we are faithful to them.
As the custodian of those covenants prophets have worked tirelessly to make them available to all of God's children. As of May 22nd those covenants will be available right here in the islands for the the people of Guam and Micronesia.
On Monday nights we get together as missionaries and have a Family Home Evening together. This last week we were hosting, and we took advantage of the opportunity to talk about one of our favorite subjects: Adam - Ondi - Ahman.
There are 23 of us here on Guam so it is a good sized group. Of course, if we are hosting there is ice cream for all afterward!!
During the day we are remotely working with our team in Tokyo most of the day.
We have a one room apartment and a dedicated corner with a table to share for an office. Here is what our work space looks like.
All the beach and outdoor pictures are often taken near sunrise or sunset when we try to get to out to enjoy early morning or evenings walking the beach.
We don't make it every day, but REALLY enjoy it when we do!
I have never seen her sick before. I don't think she has ever felt like that before.
Sister Denny, produced some home made chicken noodle soup that hit the spot for Sherri - Thank you!
We look forward to joining our team in Japan, but very grateful to be here learning new things and basking in the tropical mornings and evenings, when we can get out. We know that there are no coincidences and thank Heavenly Father every day for the opportunity to learn new cultures and work with the wonderful missionaries here.
